Fact remains that big time collegiate powers like UT and OU don't go play in far away conferences. People come to them. They've both been asked to join the S.E.C. In the past as well. I don't see why you guys don't get this.

Maybe its just your loathing for KU and the desire to see them waving in the wind that is getting in the way of seeing how these things really happen.
First, I'll mention that if/when the Big 12 collapses, I'd expect KU to land in either the B1G or the ACC. So it's not "desire to see them waving" ...

If there's anyone who has tunnel vision on this, it's you.

Second, if UT and OU leave the Big 12-2-2+2, it will be to the PAC, and they likely will take a few schools with them. They would end up in a division that is much more regional than the PAC as a whole. Arizona, Arizona St., Colorado, UT, OU, oSu, Tech, Kansas all are possibilities.

Third, the ultimate thing is... the Big 12-2-2+2 is a house built on sinking sand. It might stand for 2 months, 2 years or 2 decades. But it's built on a central support beam - Texas - that is incredibly shaky and has proven it places no level of care in ensuring this conference survives.

Attempts to shore up the foundation of the league - granting of TV rights to the league long-term, etc. - were not received.

So Missouri left early because it had an opportunity from the most stable, lucrative conference rather than risk being stuck in the situation it looked like Mizzou, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor were going to face during the first round of realignment.
