yeah, definitely. If you play it like that, it really is fun/rewarding. I typically try to play the classes as they were designed/intended, and it makes it more fun. I can't see how running around like an assault player in the recon class is any fun. Not to mention I'm not sure why people do it. I got a ton of points from spotting. people spawning on me. if a teamate kills a enemy that was spotted by the T-UGS, you get points (if I recall). And, you can still use whichever gun you want. On the larger maps, I'll use a 4.5 or 7 magnification to sort of hang back out of the action. On the smaller ones, I'll use a smaller weapon, and get a little closer to the action, but not too close - but sometimes mixing it up depending on our flag situation and tickets. On larger maps I use my pistol quite a bit when moving from cover to cover, then swith to the other rifle
The SOFLAM was killer. Even if you don't have a teammate that has any laser guided munitions (Air to Air missiles, or Javelins etc), you can still use it to spot, and maybe check out an area before going into it. If you place it in a good spot, you can see quite a bit. I really can't wait for the UAV so I can spot a ton. I'm not going to be one of thise idiots who use it to fly into someone to try to kill them. So reeruned. Nope, I'll be just fine observing from above and spotting the bejesus out of the other team.
I this was a good aid for me.

I also use this quite a bit to see my stats and upcoming unlocks. Get an idea of which guns I shoot well etc.
