Before that, it was "Smith will never make the playoffs", "Smith can never go toe to toe with an Elite QB", "Smith can't ever win a playoff game". Dude wants to shut up his critics more than he wants a payday.
Not only that however - he earned an economics degree in 2 years... he's more than likely invested well and knows he'll make plenty of money long after his FB career is over. Smith wants a ring and would sign a team friendly deal but for the two wrenches I mentioned in my previous post.
