Actually, plain and simple, he deprived the theater and the studio, actors and back end folks their share of the ticket he should have purchased if he wished to view the movie, in whole or in part.

And your second paragraph is simply an ethics question. First of all, it is against the law. Secondly, just because you don't think it's wrong doesn't mean others don't. Frankly, I do think it's wrong. You just shouldn't take two things when you paid for one. At least that's my opinion.
