At this point, we're looking like we're going to make history by being the first team to have the #1 rated system and NOT make the playoffs. What does that tell you about how we've handled our prospects? And I'm not suggesting that we're not doing a great job in player development (which may or may not be the case--evidence for concern with pitchers).

I think we have to seriously assess our pitching coaching at the AAA and AA levels. And for the record, I think the answer to our pitching woes should be addressed through all of this money we've been "saving" for free agency. Bump the payroll and buy two of the three aforementioned pitchers on five year deals. It will give us a five year window and allow us to deal a lot of our pitching prospects for the next wave.
