A lot of fans fell in love with the NBA because of Jordan, so Lebron threatens an almost mythical figure from their childhood.
For myself, I became a Bulls fan because their games were on WGN back when big dishes were the craze in the mid-80's.
I also remember similar arguments being made about the greatest ever back then, too. This is not a new argument, simply different players being included in the argument.

I am in the same boat. I lived in Memphis with no local team. Followed Jordan from his success and on to the Bulls. Great, he's actually going to play for a team I can watch on cable TV (either Chicago, Atlanta or New York). I watched every available game and was a Jordan fanatic. I believe he's the best of all time. But, I am not of the opinion that we'll never see anyone that matches him.
