Content owners have been jacking up the price that Netflix has to pay.

I had Netflix DVD/mail until fairly recently in order to watch older and foreign films that were only on DVD. Netflix is not replacing those DVDs. So once all of the copies of a given film break, get lost, or too scratched, that title is no longer available.

Ten years ago almost any obscure title that I came across was available on Netflix. It was really remarkable. Today, not so much.
