I love Chris Carpenter, but I do not trust him to stay healthy for one second.
Michael Wacha is still a two pitch pitcher and Carlos Martinez has made 0 starts as a major leaguer.
Westbrook is still battling a balky elbow, Shelby may be struggling with a bit of a rookie wall and/or mechanical issue, and Lynn is Jekyll or Hyde.
Besides, we could always decline Peavy's option if we so desire.
Look, if Matt Carpenter had 25 HR power I'd park his ass at third for the next half decade, but since he doesn't, I'm keeping him where he has been an elite player, 2B.
