I've had a Cannon EOS SLR for about 10 years. It was an investment-but well worth it.
I have a 300mm zoom lens and a few other smaller lenses.

My girls are in dance, plays and gymnastics.

No matter where I am-front of the auditorium or the back, I always get the shot.
It adjusts to light changes, auto-focuses and is clearer that a pocket camera of the same megapixel.

It has NO delay and will take 3 pictures a second. Great for dance moves.

I don't remember now much I spent-lets say 500.00. Also bought a photo printer that day.
So over 10 years, that's 50 a year on a camera. Good investment.
