Sounds like a compression/leak down test is in order.
Quick test I like is to use my spark plug to compressor adaptor, roll each cylinder around to TDC then pump compressed air to it and listen for leaks. It’ll lose some air to the crank case due to ring end gap but if it’s losing a lot it’s a broken ring(s). If it starts blowing bubbles in the radiator it’s a blown head gasket or cracked/warped head. If it starts blowing through the exhaust it’s a burnt exhaust valve, through the intake same song different verse.
