Matt Garza | Starting Pitcher

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Royals are intent on adding a starter and have asked the Cubs about Matt Garza.
They would be acquiring him more for 2013 than this season, as the Royals probably don't realistically consider themselves contenders this year. Garza is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter before hitting free agency. The Cubs wouldn't mind extending the right-hander but might decide to deal him if they get an offer they like. Also Mets are interested in Broxton


According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets are "paying close attention to" Jonathan Broxton.
The Kansas City closer has already drawn interest from multiple contending teams and seems highly likely to be moved at this year's July 31 trade deadline. Broxton has a 2.14 ERA and 22 saves in 26 chances this season. Jul 17 - 6:23 PM
