I can vividly remember one day my wife and older son were upstairs. I was watching college football in the living room. My 9month old was scooting around the hardwoods like crazy in his walker. Suddenly I heard him stop. I had an eerie feeling for some odd reason and looked back and he was right behind me. A foot away from our downstairs staircase. (20 steps deep with tile basement at the bottom). Our oldest had left the baby gate open and the toddler was just sitting there innocently, staring up at me. He was inches from going for a massive tumble.
I almost passed out. About two days later, it hit me hard. I went to bed and had such bad anxiety I couldn't sleep. Weeks of wondering "what if?" consumed me. Oh, enjoy being a dad Buehler!
