I'd much rather roll the dice on a young player with a high ceiling than settle for "a bit above average", and that mindset is shared of most of the other posters on this forum who abhor the idea of signing Alex Smith. It doesn't matter if 2014's top QB or 2015's top QB is better than Geno; we won't be able to take him anyway. Alex Smith will play well enough to get us to the playoffs sometimes and NEVER be in the position that we're in now - the position that allows us to choose our favorite QB in the draft and take him.
