I think it's a pretty big negative when a team takes a somewhat head scratching pick over more heralded prospects and then it doesn't pan out. It's not the best example, but the Raiders taking Darrius Heyward-Bey (140 rec/2071 yds/11 TDs) over Michael Crabtree (260 rec/3345 yds/21 TDs) and Jeremy Maclin (258 rec/3453 yds/26 TDs) kind of falls in this category. \
It's only a minor negative, if that, when the entire league, including the team that ultimately takes him, misses on a guy.
