Demaryius Thomas cleared to return to practice


Former first-round draft pick Demaryius Thomas will rejoin his teammates at practice this week, less than seven months after suffering a torn Achilles’ tendon.

General manager Brian Xanders said Saturday that Thomas has been cleared to practice, though Thomas will be under close supervision of team trainers as he works to get back into football shape.

Thomas was on the active-Non Football Injury list throughout training camp, spending every practice on the sideline watching his teammates and going through conditioning drills. Xanders said Thomas will start on the scout team as he re-acclimates to being in pads and doing actual football work.

The team kept only four other wide receivers, a sign that they are hopeful that Thomas will make a quick transition back to game shape.
