Stephen King suggests casting the entire 'Twilight' cast in his upcoming 'Dark Tower' adaptation

Before anyone blows a gasket: Stephen King was only kidding when he said that the Twilight cast should be purchased wholesale and shoved into the many (many) roles that need actors for Ron Howard's upcoming Dark Tower adaptation. This is a series that over 30 million people have read over the years, and casting is important, so who does King actually think oughtta play some of the roles? The news that Ron Howard would be directing a sprawling, multi-film, multi-TV-series adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower series has been met with equal parts anticipation and worry: After so many years, is it even possible to pull something like this off? Who are they going to cast in the project, and who in their right mind will sign up for that much work? What about Ron Howard directing-- is he really the best choice for the job? EW's recent interview with Stephen King doesn't answer all those questions-- and doesn't say all that much-- but it does indicate what he's thinking at this stage of the production process (he's signed on as a producer).

When asked who he thinks should fill out the numerous roles that will make up the Dark Tower cast, King had this to say: "The Twilight cast, of course! Just kidding. I haven’t got as far as casting in my thoughts, but when I write about Susannah Dean, I always kind of see Angela Bassett in my mind’s eye. Mostly I just want good people in those parts. Ron Howard will find them, I’m sure." That sound you just heard was 30 million Dark Tower fans having a heart attack, regaining composure, and then nodding along with King's Bassett-namedrop.

King goes on to mention that he thinks he'd be a great choice to voice Blaine the Mono-- a homicidal monorail train that appears in the epic's third and forth novels-- and had this to say about NBC being able to pull off the more grisly aspects of the story: "I don’t see that as a problem at all! We’ll have just enough latitude to make a great series. I’ve worked in network TV before, and every time I was squeezed a little, it just made me look for creative solutions. Besides, I always like to play in the biggest auditorium available!" Guess we'll have to wait and see what sort of "creative solutions" Howard comes up with to cover Roland's gun-abortion in book one, huh?
