Just go get one at your local electronics big box store. Sam's Club has one in a bundle with Guitar Hero and Lego Batman for a very good deal.
BUT
If you have an HD TV and would like to watch movies in the Highest-def possible, and download movies from 3.99 and surf the web and play multi-player games for free, AND play ALL those games your son mentioned PLUS LittleBIGPlanet and several exclusive HUGE title games. Get a PS3. Yes, it does start at $399. but if you look at XBOX after you buy the necessary peripherals to match the features of a PS3, it is less than or equal to the value of 360 WITHOUT the durability issues (look up Red Ring of Death).
Just ask him: What about a PS3? See what he says.
