In all of comics SM is the one character so powerful he might as well be God. That guy just doesn't interest me. He almost can't lose.
To show him as a person, a human with weaknesses and imperfections, makes me want to watch.
I know the SM purists hate it but I think it made the wider audience relate more to the character...
