Lakes have better big-picture scenery, but rivers have more dynamic scenery. I can easily drown in a lake if I fall in, but I'm more likely to fall in at a river. Lakes have gigantic fish that will eat me if I go in the water, but rivers have crocodiles that will eat me on the banks.
I think I would go with a river, but it's really close.
