A carnival used to come to the little Iowa town where I grew up every July 4th. One year the brought an elephant to ride. They would back 10 to 12 of us kids on the back off the elephant and then it would take a couple laps of an approximately 20 ft diameter circle. That was it.
The back is, indeed, hairy. The beast is, indeed, smelly.
What I remember most clearly about that particular elephant was the size of the turd it cast off for a 10 ft. drop. It was the size of a bowling ball.
