The Royals really should have just non-tendered Hochevar. He's set to earn more than $4 million in arbitration, which doesn't make him attractive as a trade chip. The right-hander is also probably on the outside looking in for a rotation spot in Kansas City following the acquisition of James Shields and Wade Davis.
