Last week, owner David Glass had left no doubt that Baird would be the general manager for the long haul, telling MLB.com "I'm amenable to doing whatever Allard wants to do."

That's a scary thought right there.... maybe we can trade Sweeney for a 2B who can't hit to compliment the Dye-Perez trade. Bad times in Royals land. Baird has done some good things, but I have a real hard time getting the bad taste out of my mouth from the Dye trade. That was just horrible beyond words, and he's yet to pull a rabbit out of his hat big enough to make us forget that never happened.
