This genre will always lend itself to campiness, but it is good to see them moving back toward the tone of the original film. At that time it had good special effects, and a very serious tone and message to it.
This movie can be good if the acting is not over the top, and they let the message of the film speak for itself rather than ramming it down the audience's throat. Something else that may not bother some, but I hate revelations that come via exposition. Obviously some things should be revealed through dialogue, but I do not want this to be something like M. Night would do where the entire back story of the monsters are spoon fed to the audience via the mouth of some government official or scientist that could not possibly know everything he knows.
Let us fill in the blanks dammit!
