I don't know if Alex failed to see Crabtree open, or if Alex just refused to throw to Crabtree in coverage, or if what is "open" to Kaepernick is a smaller window than "open" to Alex.
Either way, Kaepernick hit Crabtree a lot. Why Alex didn't or couldn't, we will never know. It is not as if Crabtree starting running routes differently for Kaepernick.
If Vernon Davis could catch Kaepernick's 60 mph passes on his hands like Crabtree can, maybe he would have been targeted more. Crabtree only dropped 3 of Kaepernick's laser passes through Kaep's 1st 5 games.
Kaepernick already stated why he targeted Crabtree more, saying, "he was open." Which I take at face value.
