One of my more odd memories of college was, one year our whole dorm wing got along really well, and we would greet each other or seek each other out by kawing like crows.
Like, you finish the lunch line, but don't see where your dorm buddies were sitting, you would let out a quavering questioning Ka-kaww??? Then your dorm buddies would caw back from their seats. When passing each other on campus you would whisper a short abrupt Ka-caw. Dudes returning from a walk of shame would get a round of jealously admiring ka-caws from the TV lounge.
It was all about using inflection and tone to give meaning to gibberish, and it was a ton of fun and real amusing for a while. But we must have been so obnoxious to others.
