I’m super paranoid now about another catastrophic deal coming down the pipe. I can’t imagine going through what we went through with a kid. The last 4-5 years damn near killed me from stress.
I would be paralyzed with fear if we had a kid; I would be paranoid beyond belief that the other shoe is about to drop etc.
Plus, I don’t think I’d want to be in my mid-40s when the kid is still in elementary school etc.
Tough call for sure. I can definitely see myself as a dad.

My Dad was 46 when I was born, and my Mom was 39. Don't let age, money nor the stress of providing stop you from the single greatest reward this life has to offer. There is never a perfect time, situation or circumstance to have kids. You just have to do it and learn on the run - like the rest of us. I have never run into any parent that told me they regretted having children. Do it!
