A couple of if's.....that no one can say for sure will happen.
The reality of it all is that we sucked 1 year too late....now we are faced with what most experts say is a mediocre draft for QB's. Was Alex Smith the answer....only time will tell, but sure seems that many have a crystal ball that they are using to prognosticate that it has already failed. (Just for grins and giggles, I'd love to have the winning Lottery numbers if that crystal ball truly works)
I remember this same kind of vitriol when we signed Priest Holmes, & when we drafted a hurt RB from Texas named Jamaal Charles.
