So, the CM Punk angle has killed wrestling for me.

I watch, if I feel like it, the first hour of raw, and then the last 5 minutes, since my dvr is locked out at 9 pm to record a couple of primetime network shows. And I don't feel like I'm missing anything. At this point, I can just save myself the time and read a recap. They're usually awful programs anyway.

But back to Punk...

The timeline of the angle, best as I can remember, is this:
  • Punk cuts one of the best promos of the last decade, ostensibly about wanting to change the WWE
  • Punk, with interference, beats Cena in Chicago, leaves with the belt
at this point it looks awesome...
  • Punk appears at Comic-Con, HHH is inserted into angle as COO
  • Punk returns after a single week
    ...tailspin engaged...
  • Angle continues to be about change, building toward Punk/HHH
  • Kevin Nash appears, build slants toward inexplicable Punk/Nash match, Nash takes out Punk
  • Nash has mysterious medical condition, Punk/HHH match hotshotted
  • HHH beats Punk
  • Punk teams with HHH
    What?
  • Nash interferes, Punk loses tag team match to Miz/Truth
  • Now we have Nash/HHH and Punk/Del Rio at Survivor Series

So somehow we've gone from Punk championing change to Punk being generic babyface number 4 (behind Huntor, Cena and Orton), apparently okay with everything as long as he gets his ice cream bar. He's losing repeatedly on PPV, now he doesn't get revenge on Nash, who thanks to his "medical condition" doesn't have to job to anybody but his good friend HHH (who already has a win over Punk - because Huntor really needs the rub... this is classic Nash/Cliq behavior...), and now Punk's almost certainly going to lose to Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series. Which I'm actually okay with philosophically because they need to stop tossing the belt around.

But jesus, this has been handled almost as poorly as Nexus.

And it's got me tuning out. To the point where I feel stupid about ever buying into the angle at all to begin with.
