Speaking of Deadspin, I'm referring this to all the folks that list the litany of other misdeeds we've over came in various forms of NFL fandom.
Don't overplay your hand.
It's not like we were all saying
'Hey, he killed dogs, but he shore is fasssss!!!!'
'Hey, he beats his wife, but he can tackle Petyie-pie Manning, so all is forgiven'
'Hey, **** rape accusations, win me some SB pie.'
ALL of those things were distractions.
All of them split opinion
All of them cost teams fans forever
All of them and more tempered our enthusiasm,.
It might be dumb to worry if having a gay teammate will take away the crucial 5 minutes answering inane E! Network questions about 'your take' that could've game planned for the critical goal line stand. But it's not that unique flower where this is the first time we've ever fretted over these types of things.
A distraction is a distraction is a distraction. And the more we insist that this CANNOT be one, the more it becomes one, and the more the parasitic media seeks access to ask 'how do you feel this has . . . ' when the answer is 'well, I have to sit here and answer these dumb assed questions, now don't I.'
