But this site wasn't exactly a "Temple" like most people would imagine when thinking of that. It was just a mound of rocks. No secret rooms, and no elaborate structures. There wasn't really anything else to be learned from this site. No further study was really necessary. So preserving this would have been just for historic sentimental purposes.
