This reasoning comes from the polar bear event in an earlier episode. Also the others bears they showed when they were invadeing the camp the bears seemed very big. Whos to say those bears were actually only half grown? Thats the only theories i could think of. Remember the producers of the show said that all that is happening on it have an explaination for what is going on with the island.
I don't think its to outlandish. I think genetically altered experimentation of animals would be my guess.
