I just want this organization to judge the QB with their eyes and not go OUT OF THEIR WAY to find a way to defend them.
A healthy amount of the fan base seems to only want a chance at a fun season with a risk-free QB, and until something different happens I am not going to be able to trust that the organization looks at the QB position differently. Just have to hope that it isn't the case, or that Alex actually is more than I think he is.

I think that's a fair fear. I also think that it's reasonable to believe that if Alex plays OK but not great this first year that he may well deserve more time if the coaches see progress. I think we should expect Alex Smith to be here for 3 years unless he really bombs in 2013. We should also expect the Chiefs to make some continual effort to find a QBoTF in the next couple of drafts, but I doubt that they'll be trading up in the first to snag a blue chip prospect in 2014.
