Yes. I'm not familiar with the 50D, do you have the ability to automatically adjust ISO?
I think I missed the earlier conversation, but I've personally never heard of shooting action in Av mode. All the sports photogs I know either go full manual or shoot Tv, as did I when I was shooting sports.
