I see what you're saying, but in this case a definite spoiler answer had been given (even if it was wrong). I thought it was better to return ambiguity to the issue rather than have someone thinking their speculative theory was completely wrong. But yes, I realize it was a spoiler. The problem is saying that something has or has not been confirmed in the books often gives away a lot of uninteded info such as whether certain people are still alive after 5 books.
