My biggest concern with Geno is how well he will be able to read an nfl defense from under center and dropping back vs. always primarily being in spread shotgun formation.
No he doesn't.

He goes through his progressions as well as any QB on this level.

In fact, his ability to look off the safety is superb and has been mentioned by a number of scouting reports and if you watch a whole WVU game, you start to notice the little stuff like this that is in his game. One more reason why I think he'll be a terrific pro. He does the little things that really contribute to the potential for success at the next level already. Some guys have the physical tools, but need additional coaching to get them to be able to play at an NFL level. Geno has these traits already, or at least a lot of them.

As well, he played in an NFL pro style set his sophomore year and was very successful in it. In addition, while the Air Raid is primarily a spread system, most of their receiver routes are pro style routes with multiple live options on the receiving routes.

And the one real benefit that he's receiving from the Air Raid system is that he's throwing the ball a ton. Steve Young commented about the difference between him and Michael Vick, stating that it was the thousands of repetitions in the passing game at BYU that prepared his arm and thought process for the next level.

Geno is as NFL ready as you could hope for from a QB at this level. In addition, he's got the physical tools you want from a high level NFL QB.

I've said it before, but, IMO, he's as good an NFL prospect at the QB position as anyone whose come out the past two decades.
