I went from not having any idea on how to bowl to learning how to throw a hook, to learning how to throw a hook correctly...to learning where to stand to pick up spares to learning how to adjust

in about a week

golf is a sport
You argument is missing the fact that there are a lot of good golfers that are not in great shape. To be a great golfer you may need to be, but to be good, that just isn't true. Just because it takes longer to be mediocre doesn't mean anything.
