IIRC the problem with Phony Tony was that he tried to pass himself off as the real Tony.
If someone wants to wear the moniker of their favorite player, or even journalist, what’s wrong with that? At least until they attempt to portray themselves as that person, then it’s a problem. Otherwise, who cares?
