You've just named the three worst programs in the SEC. Their recruiting ended up ranked 22, 35, and 39 respectively. That would put them third, fifth, and seventh in the Big 12. The worst team on that list is 17 spots ahead of the Big 12 champ.

The middle class of the SEC (excluding the newcomers) would be teams like Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, and Georgia. Two of those teams have won national titles as SEC teams in the last 15 years, and the other two have been top five teams in the past two years.
Middle class in the Big 12 would be Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Tech. Those aren't awful programs or anything, but they aren't Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, and Arkansas.
