Fellas - Alex Smith is the nightmare scenario. This is now a team that's going to play mediocre football for the duration of his tenure here. It will even take advantage of league parity and make the playoffs a few times. It's going to be the epitome of soul-crushing mediocrity. It will never get good enough to ramp up expectations, it will never be bad enough to incite outrage.
Oh no, we wouldn't be so lucky.
These guys are going to win enough to keep their jobs for a very long time...but they're never going to win anything substantial.
