I thought he kind of overplayed his role in the first episode. It almost reminded me of Stallone in Rocky II, playing him as if he was a reerun.
Dexter always has that flat affect, but he's a little more deceptively intelligent than that. I realize that you can say it's because of the shock and loss, and maybe it was, but relative to his character in the past, he seemed off.
