I've seen "I'm leaving forever" threads. People tend to think someone is much softer for not being able to put up with the BS than staying and owning it.
Basically, if he stays, then you're saying he's soft due to AS being his weakness. If he leaves, everyone else will think he's soft for running away. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If I was one to care what other people think (and, well, my track history shows that I am), then I'd tend to agree with the majority and stay.
