This is really sad if you think that consumers shouldn't be protected. Perhaps we should go back to the days of diseased meat plants and pharma companies stuffing sugar pills and selling it off as medicine. But I probably deserve diseased meat, because I should be raising my own cows.

But yet, you're selfish enough to demand changes to this entire system, which you had absolutely no part of. Changes which would raise the price of nearly every item you buy. Which you would of course also bitch about. It would also reduce the profit of every single one of the people that actually had a hand in bringing that food to you, so you could simply consume it and make more demands. Each step of the process above was carried out by a different person, and they all would lose profit and be forced to make expensive changes their entire system.
What "demands"? That we ask businesses to label exactly what they put in their food? I'm not saying we should ban anything. I'm saying that there should be full transparency about exactly what is going into our foods, and then people can decide.

And you know what the result would be? 99.9999% of the products in the supermarket contain GMOs. But now each of those items costs at least $1 more than it used to. Because expensive changes had to be made at damn near every step of the process from planting to the supermarket shelf. All because you have an irrational fear of something you've been eating your entire life.

It disgusts me how ignorant people can demand changes to something they don't understand and had no part of. Especially when those demanding changes can't even identify why GMOs are bad for you. They posts pics of of ears of corn, and supposedly let the squirrel's taste preferences determine the quality and safety of GMOs. Squirrel brains seem appropriate I suppose...
I don't really care about GMOs. It doesn't affect what I buy and it probably never will. In much the same way I don't always buy organic. But irrational fear or not, people have a right to know what they are buying. You're right that much of the food in the food supply will have GMO in it. And a lot of people won't care, because they can get it cheaper. But there are some who do. And if you do care about it, who are you to tell them that they have to be forced to like it and accept it?
