I don't give a shit if the guy is Jack Lambert, Mike Singletary, Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher and Pat Willis all rolled into one, you don't take a mike backer first overall ever.

Especially when you have a quarterback situation that the Chiefs have.

Especially when you have two decent MLB/ILB like Johnson and Belcher.

Second, you are taking two interior linemen. The Chiefs have already taken, in the past three drafts Asamoah, Hudson and Allen to play inside and have Lilja on roster. You don't take backup interior linemen in the draft. That's what the UDFA signing period is about.

Third, Hunt is a 43 DE. And he won't be around in the sixth.
Do you honestly think no team would take any of those guys #1 if they knew what they were getting? They aren't just LBers man. They are some of the best leaders to ever play the game and that's the point about Te'o. That shit is hard to find.

Belcher is gone. We tendered him just like we did Carr the year before. I understand that in the past teams would never take a MLB #1. This is different. This is an incredibly weak draft class just like in 2009. However, in 2009 there wasn't a rookie cap. Taking a MLB is very possible.

Second, the difference between guys like Glennon or Wilson and guys like barkley or Smith is not much. Seriously, the potential is about the same across the board. I think this will really come to light the further the scouting process comes along.

Third, we always say we'll build the o-line in free agency. The game is won ion the trenches. Lilja will be gone and Hudson is a question mark. We really haven't seen enough of him to know anything. The guys I listed have tremendous value and fill needs.

Last, Hunt plays in a hybrid defense. He does play in the 3-4 sometimes and you can see it in the link I posted. He hasn't played long and is incredibly raw. Again, he really blows through the line, needs work against the run, and does not knock down enough passes. He has also only been playing two years. Maybe he will go sooner? I don't know.
