I understand and embrace your point that pinning your hopes in the late rounds/trades for your starting QB is a dumb approach that is less likely to solve the problem than rolling the dice on a QB in the first round.
But let's not pretend that there will never be another Tom Brady again in this league. There will be. That's why selecting a QB with a late round pick every year is smart. You increase the odds of finding that guy.
