I injured my neck goofing around in the pool with one of my sons (tried to toss 175 lb. kid up in the air just when he decided to push down on my head). Anyway, I started having a terrible amount of pain and numbness across my back, shoulder, and all the way down to my forearm. MRI showed mostly nothing. Physical therapy, heat and electric shock would somewhat help for about 24 hours but then the pain would come right back. After about 6 months with no relief, my doctor suggested getting a series of epiderals (3) to relieve any possible inflamation of the spinal cord. I only got one because of the outrageous cost and didn't notice any difference for a couple of months but in the third month all the pain slowly faded away. The idea is that if you have a pinched nerve causing inflammation in the spinal cord that the cord area swells causing constriction therefore not allowing the area to heal. With an epideral given at the right spot, the spinal cord swelling is relieved short-term and allows the nerve to begin to heal. You might discuss this with a specialist. I hope you get some relief.
