I don't think you know what a Grant of Rights is.

Texas does not own the TV rights to their own team (except 1 minor game) for the next 13 years. The Big 12 does, Texas has no way of getting it back, and the Big 12 does not have to give or sell them back if they don't want to.

Even if they did want to leave, UT is worth absolutely nothing to any other conference until 2025. Their new conference would be unable to televise a UT home game or get any money from it.
