Consider the battery...

I had an IPOD mini that I listened to constantly. After a mere 5 months the batter was losing its charge and the IPOD was unusable. When I sent my IPOD in for a battery replacement, they informed me that they could not replace the battery without replacing the entire casing. And since the casing and a dent on the corner, they told me it would cost me $230. This is because 1)They are assholes, and 2) they don't replace the battery, but instead give you a different refurbished IPOD. This is because the IPOD's battery is tightly integrated into the IPOD itself. If you try to do it yourself, you will most likely damage your IPOD.

My advice would be to get a Creative Labs Zen Micro. These have replaceable batteries that can be snapped in and out. That way you don't have to worry about getting screwed by Apple. Mine is on its way.
