While I was originally not a fan of the USP trigger, my current favorite that I would pick if I choose to carry would be my HK45C. Nice compact format, incredibly reliable and packs a nice punch. How it's built has made me reconsider the HKs to the point I'm trying to see if I can get my hands on a Mark 23 before they finally go out of production.
Now if you're talking ultra concealability then the 9mm is probably still your only choice, but I like my punch versus size trade off o the HK45C. And even in the small package the recoil really is manageable.
If I needed something tiny I'd probably try out something like this. It really is a novel design. Boberg Arms XR9, super small and yet can still shoot 9MM+P. Because of it's design it gets nearly fullsize velocity out of a compact design.
I'm also getting trigger jobs on both my XDm and USP. My buddy picked up a totally tricked out XD from a gunsmith recently, and after firing that my current triggers feel mushy as shit by comparison.

Until recently, I'd never fired one that I cared for, and that one is way out of my price range. I used to have a Beretta Mini-Cougar .45. It wasn't very accurate, and I also kept forgetting about the short grip when I'd slap in a fresh extended mag and end up pinching the crap out of my hand. Ironically, it would also make a nice carry weapon, but again, I never thought this would happen here. The ammo is also far more expensive than 9 or 40. I wouldn't mind getting a smaller .40.
