Book 3 is awesome, my advice is read it before watching season 3.
For me, it's easy to watch the show after reading the books because it is visual and fast paced and there are enough differences to keep you interested. On the other hand, it's harder to read the book when you already have seen the show and know the story, maybe because reading takes so much longer.
