Why whould he/she make it up? I alluded to the likely reason why he/she would do so. (I honsetly cann't tell from the name or the photo what gender the writer is)
The TV coverage as well as the video embedded shows what happened. The TV coverage showed the team and the coach leaving the field and no students were on the field. I suppose the blogger was simply confusing the team's celebration with students.
